On our way to Omaha Beach, we drove into St. Mere Eglise, where they have a parachute attached to a mock soldier, reminding us of one of the many interesting stories about D-Day. The real soldier hung here for hours, barely breathing for fear that the many German soldiers below would figure out that he was still alive!
